Handloggers 2020 - virtual run

We were delighted to have had 47 registered participants and many unofficial runners supporting our virtual Handloggers event over the past few weeks. Here on Bowen a few Island runners and several folk from away chose to run the Handloggers course while some folk got creative with their own variations when they couldn't find the way out of Grafton Lake Lands for example ;-)

Handloggers 2020 runs around the world

Emily Osborne (2018 women's Handloggers Champion and now based in Wellington NZ) gathered a group of 16 hardy Wellington runners to join a Handloggers Downunder trail run (in rainy windy Welly, NZ) (see photo below).

John Lambert (long time supporter of the race) even completed the Handloggers Half and Half, running the Bowen Island course in opposite directions on September 5 and 6 (photo above) . We also had several runners running south of the border from Massachusetts to California and Washington and even a registered alumni running in Switzerland.

thank you for your support!

The Handloggers Half Marathon Association is grateful for this solid show of support for our special event and particularly for all the generous donations made to the Bowen Island Trail Society (BITS). Funds raised will continue to support navigation and trail improvements for non-motorized trail users on Bowen Island’s trails. For more information see the BITS Facebook group or the BITS website.

Thank you so much to all of you!

We hope to be back next year to pick up the tradition of Handloggers on the Labour Day weekend. Until then, we’ll continue the spirit of the event by looking after Bowen Island’s trails, and each other.
